About

Melodie McColl,
Born in, Wellington, New Zealand, 1983.
With first memories of creating, buildings, dinners, dreams, all in the sandpit at age three, this girl
exercised her creative eye from a very young age. Observing, and touching all things, taking in the
textures, shapes, layers and colours of everything in sight. Being heavily influenced by her surroundings, Melodie took her forever evolving creative ideas and dreams, and started putting them into different mediums leaving a paper trace, literally.

With a love for the arts, Melodie studied art, photography, graphics and woodwork throughout school. With a diverse interest, Melodie decided to study and gain her Diploma, then there after Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design at the Design and Arts College of New Zealand.

In 2003 Melodie setup her first Sole Trading Business, along with working and gaining experience in a variety of part time employed roles. Gaining a sound knowledge in design, manufacturing, retail sales, management, business and teaching. Melodie added Makeup and Production to her trade.

Steadily building a name for herself, and winning many prestigious awards over the last 20years, in both the Fashion and Beauty industry.

To add the finishing touches, Melodie had her boy Max in 2008, so life balance became a huge factor. Melodie has and is constantly recreating herself and business.

I invite you to take a journey into my world….

As a Makeup/Hair Artist,
With over 20 years’ experience in the makeup industry, not only does Melodie draw from her training and experience as a makeup artist, but from her background as a fashion designer also.
Melodie went into free-lance makeup from 2005, working with an array of clients from beauty, commercial, bridal, film and large corporate events.

Her work can be explained as blending styles, designs, and colours to create a world of magic, romance, old and new, Avant Garde and of course Melodie’s unique creative flair!

Her passion for teaching make-up came after she taught at a make-up school, being able to pass on information and see other artists grow, was the best feeling.

Recognizing the gap in the market coupled with a desire to bring more to the industry at a much higher standard. Melodie set up her own school, in 2014 Melodie M School of Makeup Artistry began its journey.
